Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about integrative medicine, our membership model, and what makes Restoration Health different — answered directly, in plain language

UNDERSTANDING INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

  • Integrative medicine combines the best of conventional medicine — evidence-based diagnostics, prescription therapies, and clinical monitoring — with functional medicine principles that look for root causes rather than just treating symptoms. The goal is to understand why a patient feels the way they do, not just manage what they're feeling.

  • A conventional primary care appointment typically runs 10–15 minutes, focuses on acute issues, and is constrained by what insurance covers. At Restoration Health, appointments are comprehensive — Jennifer Glasshagel, FNP spends real time reviewing your full health picture, including in-depth labs, lifestyle factors, hormonal health, and long-term goals. There is no insurance-driven ceiling on what she can address.

  • Functional medicine is an approach to care that treats the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. Instead of asking "what drug matches this diagnosis?", functional medicine asks "why is this patient experiencing this, and what does the underlying system need to function correctly?" It often relies on comprehensive laboratory testing, personalized nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and therapies — including hormones, supplements, and peptides — that address root causes.

  • Integrative medicine is well-suited for hormone imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, fatigue, brain fog, weight management challenges, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk, gut health issues, autoimmune conditions, perimenopause and menopause, low testosterone, anxiety, sleep disorders, and general optimization — feeling better than "fine." It works alongside conventional care, not against it.

  • Yes. At Restoration Health, every treatment decision is grounded in lab data and clinical evidence. Jennifer does not offer unproven therapies. Hormone optimization, comprehensive metabolic panels, IV nutrient therapy, and peptide protocols all have substantive research behind them. The difference from conventional care is the depth of evaluation and the willingness to treat based on optimal ranges, not just whether a patient is technically "in range."

  • At Restoration Health & Wellness, our integrative medicine approach focuses on providing comprehensive, personalized health solutions to support your overall well-being. Please note that we do not offer psychiatric care, emergency care, surgeries, women’s gynecological exams, or specialized treatments outside the scope of integrative medicine. Learn More

  • At this time, we do not offer pediatric care. Our services are focused on adult health and wellness.

MEMBERSHIP & HOW IT WORKS

  • Restoration Health operates on a monthly membership rather than billing insurance for individual visits. Membership covers your appointments, in-depth labs reviews twice per year, access to the patient portal, and discounted pricing on additional labs and prescriptions. It removes the insurance-driven limitations that restrict what a provider can discuss, order, or spend time on during an appointment.

  • All new patients start on the Enhance Wellness plan, which includes 8 follow up appointments and 2 in-depth lab reviews per year. This plan is designed for patients who are building a wellness plan for the first time — the process takes more communication and follow-up at the start. Once a patient is on track and no longer needs that level of check-in, the patient can transition to the Elevate Wellness plan, which includes 4 follow up appointments and 2 in depth lab reviews per year. That transition typically happens around the one-year mark.

  • Membership plans range from $199–$299 per month depending on your plan. A 5% discount is available for annual payment, and a 10% family discount applies for each additional family member enrolled per year.

  • Yes — there is a 3-month minimum commitment. This is in place to ensure proper continuity of care. Integrative medicine is a process, not a one-time visit, and meaningful results require time for labs, adjustments, and follow-up.

  • Restoration Health does not bill insurance directly. We help patients use their existing benefits wherever possible and offer discounted lab pricing. Many patients find the membership is more cost-effective than their previous care once they factor in co-pays, specialist referrals, and the number of appointments needed to get real answers through a traditional model.

  • Yes. Virtual appointments are available to patients anywhere in Texas and are just as thorough as in-office visits. Jennifer reviews the same lab data, conducts the same comprehensive intake review, and delivers the same level of care — regardless of format.

  • At Restoration Health & Wellness, we deeply value your time and ours!

To ensure we can provide the best care to all our patients, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Our no-show policy is as follows:

    First Missed Appointment: $50 fee

    Second Missed Appointment: $100 fee

Third Missed Appointment: We may need to reevaluate your care with us.

For new patients, a no-show will mean we’re unable to reschedule your visit.

We understand that life happens, and emergencies can arise. If you have an unexpected situation, please contact our Office Manager at 512-200-3240 . We’re happy to work with you!

  • We offer a variety of services outside of our membership plan. Learn more about these options by clicking the Services button at the top of the page.

  • Currently, our comprehensive lab appointment is the only pay-per-visit option available.

THE FIRST APPOINTMENT

  • Your first appointment is a full consultation — not an intake or meet-and-greet. Before you arrive, you complete comprehensive intake forms through the patient portal, Jennifer reviews them and creates a personalized lab order, and you get your blood drawn at Quest Diagnostics. By the time you walk in, your lab results are already in hand. Jennifer walks you through your results in detail and you leave with a complete, personalized wellness plan. No follow-up appointment needed for answers.

  • No. That's intentional — and it's one of the things that most distinguishes Restoration Health from a traditional practice. The process is designed so your very first appointment is your full consultation, with real lab results already on the table. You leave with answers and a plan, not a promise to follow up.

  • After scheduling, you'll complete intake forms through the secure patient portal at restorationhealth.md-hq.com. Jennifer reviews your intake and sends a personalized lab order to Quest Diagnostics on your behalf. You then schedule your blood draw at any Quest Diagnostics location convenient to you. Results return to Jennifer before your first visit.

  • At any Quest Diagnostics location near you. Once Jennifer sends your lab order, you schedule your draw directly at questdiagnostics.com — no referral paperwork or waiting on your end.

  • Results typically return within about two weeks of your blood draw. We typically schedule your first appointment three weeks out from you lab draw.

  • Jennifer may still want to run her own panel, since Restoration Health evaluates 80+ biomarkers — significantly more than a standard workup. Note your recent labs when you schedule and she will review what you have. It may reduce what needs to be redrawn.

LAB TESTING

  • Restoration Health evaluates 80+ biomarkers as part of a new patient intake. This includes a full hormone panel (testosterone, estrogen, full thyroid panel with autoantibody testing), inflammatory and cardiovascular markers, advanced lipid panel, glucose and insulin resistance, metabolic function, vitamins and minerals, liver and kidney function, blood counts, and urinalysis. Specialty testing — including GI MAP, food sensitivity, and microbiome analysis — is also available.

  • Standard lab reference ranges are extremely broad — designed to flag disease, not define health. A result "in range" simply means it falls within the wide band seen across a large, general population. Optimal means the level at which an individual patient functions best — which may be very different from the bottom of a reference range. At Restoration Health, Jennifer evaluates not just whether you're in range, but whether your levels are where they need to be for you to feel and function well.

  • An in-depth lab review is the comprehensive evaluation Jennifer conducts before your first appointment. She reviews your complete panel — all 80+ biomarkers — in the context of your intake forms, symptoms, and health history. The review is what allows your first appointment to be a full consultation rather than a preliminary visit. You are charged for the lab review as part of the new patient process.

  • Restoration Health offers discounted lab pricing and helps patients apply existing insurance benefits wherever possible. We do not bill insurance directly, but we will support you in getting the most coverage you can for lab costs.

HORMONE THERAPY

  • Restoration Health offers bio-identical hormone therapy for both men and women, including testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), thyroid optimization, estrogen and progesterone therapy for women in perimenopause and menopause, and adrenal support. Treatment is always based on comprehensive lab data and individual clinical presentation — not one-size-fits-all protocols.

  • Testosterone replacement therapy replenishes testosterone that the body is no longer producing in sufficient amounts. It is indicated for men with lab-confirmed low testosterone who are experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, decreased muscle mass, brain fog, mood changes, or poor sleep. At Restoration Health, TRT is administered via injectable testosterone — Jennifer's preferred method due to its precision, consistency, and measurable dosing. → Read the full TRT guide on our blog.

  • Common signs include persistent fatigue that doesn't resolve with adequate sleep, decreased sex drive, difficulty building or maintaining muscle mass, increased body fat (especially around the abdomen), mood changes such as irritability or low motivation, brain fog, poor sleep, and reduced strength. Many men attribute these changes to stress or aging without realizing testosterone may be a factor.

  • The hormone panel includes total testosterone, free testosterone, bioavailable testosterone, SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin), LH and FSH (pituitary hormones), estradiol, and a full thyroid panel with autoantibody testing. This comprehensive view is what distinguishes Restoration Health from providers who check only total testosterone and declare a patient "normal."

  • Bio-identical hormones are chemically identical in structure to the hormones naturally produced by the human body — as opposed to synthetic hormones that are structurally different. At Restoration Health, bio-identical hormone therapy is prescribed based on each patient's specific lab values and symptoms, at doses designed to restore physiological levels rather than exceed them.

  • Yes. Jennifer addresses hormonal health for women across all life stages — including perimenopause, menopause, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal issues, and general hormone imbalance. A comprehensive hormone panel is part of every new patient evaluation and informs a personalized treatment plan.

SERVICES

  • IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, and hydration directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system entirely. This allows for higher absorption and faster results than oral supplements. At Restoration Health, IV formulations are personalized to each patient's lab results. Common applications include energy and adrenal support, immune recovery, hydration and electrolyte rebalancing, migraine relief, and athletic recovery.

  • Both IV therapy and vitamin injections are effective methods for boosting health and wellness by delivering nutrients directly into your body for optimal absorption. IV therapy involves a blend of fluids and nutrients delivered via a drip, making it ideal for hydration and recovery. On the other hand, vitamin injections provide a quick, targeted dose, which is perfect for addressing specific deficiencies such as B12 or vitamin D. Learn more

  • The Myers' Cocktail is a well-established IV formulation containing magnesium, B vitamins (including B12 and B complex), vitamin C, and calcium. It is one of the most commonly used IV therapy protocols for general energy support, immune function, and nutrient repletion. Restoration Health offers this and other personalized IV formulations.

  • Peptide therapy uses short chains of amino acids to signal specific physiological responses — including tissue repair, growth hormone release, immune modulation, and fat metabolism. Peptides prescribed at Restoration Health are selected based on each patient's clinical goals and lab data. Common applications include body composition support, recovery, cognitive function, and anti-aging.

  • Styku is a 3D body composition scanning technology that provides a detailed, precise measurement of body fat percentage, lean mass, and circumference measurements — without the inaccuracies of BMI or handheld devices. At Restoration Health, Styku scans are used to establish a baseline and track changes in body composition over time, particularly for patients working on weight management or hormone optimization.

  • Weight management at Restoration Health is approached through the lens of root cause — addressing the hormonal, metabolic, and nutritional factors that drive weight gain or resistance to loss. Services may include GLP-1 therapy, hormone optimization, metabolic panel review, nutrition guidance, and body composition tracking with Styku. Protocols are individualized based on lab data.
